microbe obliterator.

Everyone has to watch this!

Mo is so freaking cute that I cried watching him jump up and down with frustration when he couldn't clean Wall-E. I want a Mo for myself!! Oh my god oh my god and he cleaned Wall-E's hand before shaking it! Oh my god like how cute is that. I'm going crazy. Oh my god and I want a son with a voice like Mo's. Gahhh!!

Those guys at Disney Pixar's are geniuses. I don't know how they manage to invent robots that can shoot my endorphin levels so crazily high. It's even better than booze. I'm going to buy the toy.

template for a man.

I've always had a thing for the darker side. Prince Charming on a white horse really doesn't interest me. I'd rather hold out for the one in a suit the color of midnight atop a dark horse. The one who doesn't smile. The one with that enigmatic look. And smoldering dark eyes.

Like Batman.

Spiderman may be cute with all his schoolboy awkwardness. Superman...isn't in the running. Wolverine, with all his manliness, might have some issues. Cyclops is deliciously suave. But no hero steals my heart like Batman.

I love his noble impetus to protect. His struggling ambition to save the world. How he stubbornly believes in goodness even through his tribulations. I love his scars. I love how he isn't bright and shiny anymore. How he's beaten, but not broken. His quiet strength and formidable spirit. His disregard for what people see him as. How he is everything a man should be and so much more.

He is also, unfortunately, fictitious.

more than man's best friend.

I seriously think, now, that it's wiser to invest feelings in a dog than another human. At least, after you've really bonded with a dog, he'll stand by you and never disappoint you. He'll love you with his whole being and his loyalty is unwavering. He'll be there when you're down; he'll be there when you're happy. When you talk to him, he may not know how to reply, but you'll know he's listening because he's looking at you with understanding eyes (as opposed to staring at blank space with a stoned face and no reactions, ok I'm being a bit mean).

Here are the 10 promises, and they're really touching:
1. Please live patiently with me.
2. Please believe in me. That alone makes me happy.
3. Please don't forget that I have feelings too.
4. There is a reason when I don't listen to you.
5. Please talk to me frequently. I may not speak human, but I can understand.
6. Please don't hit me. Don't forget I'm stronger if we fight.
7. Please don't neglect me even when I get older.
8. I'll only be around for about 10 years, so please spend more time with me.
9. You have school and friends. But I've only got you.
10. When I die, please stay by my side. And please remember, I've loved you all my life.

about the cleverest thing I've seen.

I'm sure that I will always be
A lonely number like root three

The three is all that's good and right,
Why must my three keep out of sight
Beneath the vicious square root sign

I wish instead I were a nine
For nine could thwart this evil trick,
with just some quick arithmetic

I know I'll never see the sun, as 1.7321
Such is my reality, a sad irrationality

When hark!
What is this I see,
Another square root of a three
As quietly co-waltzing by

Together now we multiply
To form a number we prefer,
Rejoicing as an integer

We break free from our mortal bonds
With the wave of magic wands
Our square root signs become unglued
Your love for me has been renewed

- Dave Feinberg

See why I've always found guys who are good at math sexy?

Stardust

You know the movie Stardust?

They should become a binary system and orbit around each other instead. How aching is it to spend the rest of eternity staring at each other from a distance (of a few light years! gosh), not being able to hold and touch one another?

It's such a tragic end for a beautiful story. But then again all great love stories are beautiful because of the tragedy. Exquisite misery. Only when you're the one watching it.

And slightly digressive, Karen Carpenter sang it well with 'because the best love songs are written with a broken heart'.

Remember, remember the 5th of November

Remember, remember the 5th of November
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot
I know of no reason why Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot

This is my tribute to the movie, V for Vendetta, and also of course, the man from whom this celebrated day originated. I haven't really taken a stand on this whole Guy Fawkes episode but what I know is that the movie touched me deeply (and I never even read the comic series).

Watching people get tortured strikes a deep chord in me, especially if the victim (or perpetrator, depending on how you see it, since they are usually deemed to have done something to deserve it) is humanized. It makes me break down. And that is saying something because I am a fan of gore, albeit mindless gore.

I have a decided partiality to V, since we share the same initial, childish as it is. But more importantly, he is so articulate and emanates so much quiet strength and raw, concealed wounds from the sufferings he has endured, that it makes it impossible not to like him. I have a feeling I'm starting to sound delusional but really, I am certain there are others like him out there in the world; V is really a fictional portrayal of these legitimate living (or once living) beings.

Think about the POWs, the people taken by terrorists, and even the terrorists themselves. When you begin to attach a face to these people, it puts all the things you’ve heard, about their suffering and torture, back into perspective. I recently watched 'Rendition' and sobbed while I sat through the torture of the lead actor because I was alternating between imagining he was my husband and pretending I was him.

I honestly question how it is fair that people can be tortured without their identities and accused misdeeds even being properly verified in the first place. 'Extraordinary Rendition', these guys even have a euphemism for it. I wonder if, in between all their detached proceedings and handling of such 'renditions', they have ever fantasized about what would happen if the suspect was someone they loved or, in fact, themselves. Would they be so cold and callous then? But that is another issue for another day.
